An elementary school in Minnesota was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the lighting quality in the school's gymnasium. Forty-eight high bay fixtures had been hanging there since the gym was constructed in the late 1960s. Tired of the poor light produced by the 400 Watt high pressure sodium lamps installed, the school began working with Master Electric, a Seesmart customer, to find a more aesthetically-pleasing, energy-efficient alternative.
Past studies have shown that varying the ambient light spectrum of essentially white light but at fixed photopic levels affects the visual acuity of adults of all ages. In this study those results including the vision and energy savings implications are extended to young children.

After getting an initial lighting plan and proposal using fluorescent lighting from a traditional lighting contractor, they contacted Seesmart to provide a quote for an energy efficient LED lighting solution.

LED technology is advancing at an extremely rapid pace. Advancements in LED light output, color rendering, and efficiency are jumping on a weekly if not daily basis these days.
